Instructional designers come from lots of different backgrounds. Some of us come from more technical backgrounds, and others from Pk-12 and college classrooms. I’m one of the latter with a twist. I spent my college career learning to teach little people, and used a lot of educational technology in the process. I found I really enjoyed designing lessons and having my students interact with highly-developed games.
This led me to get a degree in instructional technology.
I really enjoyed my IT degree, as it allowed me to roam free with Ed Tech: designing lessons, using emerging technologies, developing instructional materials, and just having fun.
My work has encompassed one of the top 100 online education graduate programs at Valdosta State, IU School of Law–Indianapolis, and Anthem Inc.
